The North Carolina Tar Heels are a complete dumpster fire after their latest loss to Clemson on Saturday. At this point, it’s not even about what’s happening on the field; the chaos is mostly off the field, fueled by crazy stipulations put in place by Bill Belichick. Former QB Drake Maye earned his first primetime win on Sunday, yet UNC was allowed to post highlights of other former players—but not his.

“The University of North Carolina staff has been directed by Bill Belichick not to post or repost anything related to the Patriots — which explains why there were no posts about Drake Maye’s performance Sunday night in the win over Buffalo, per RossMartinNC. Maye, of course, played his college ball at UNC,” NFL insider Ari Meirov wrote.

On Tuesday, another chapter was added to the saga when North Carolina’s Hulu docuseries was cancelled. SEC analyst Peter Burns suggested a bold move for rival Duke regarding recruiting.

“Every single day this becomes even more embarrassing for everyone involved. If I’m Duke, I buy the rights to all the footage they’ve filmed and air it at every recruiting visit,” Burns said.

It’s a wild idea, but it could work if Duke managed to get their hands on the unseen footage. If behind-the-scenes leaks weren’t enough to turn recruits away, maybe comments from a player’s mom will be.

“It’s all starting at the top, and the boys are being affected,” a parent of a current UNC player said, speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation. “I don’t fault the players; I fault the leadership that created this toxic environment. There’s an individualistic mindset. The boys are young, and they are feeding into it.”

At this point, Duke can use all these issues to attract in-state recruits over UNC. For Belichick, things are going downhill fast, and every day brings a new target on his back.

With Hulu discontinuing the series, one has to wonder what’s on those tapes. If Duke could actually get ahold of them, North Carolina would have real reason to worry.
