Bill Belichick's wild ride takes a new turn for the UNC Tar Heels image

What started with a 9 a.m. concert from Ludacris ended up with Cade Klubnick and the Clemson Tigers being the one saying "Get out the way."

Dabo Swinney's team has made Bill Belichick's Tar Heels look all out of sorts. This just further encapsulates the horror show that the Belichick era at UNC has been. This whole season has been an enormous amount of sizzle but none of the steak. At least when Deion Sanders took over Colorado there were incredibly entertaining games with phenomenal talent like Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter.

There is none of that for Belichick. UNC just looks, well who knows? It’s uninspired, the offense is just boring, and the defense looks all over the place. It’s so bad fans were leaving the game before halftime, and ESPN was finding filler material during the first half of the game. Even fans dressed as sharks couldn’t bear to be in the lifeless ocean that is the UNC Tar Heels stands.

On one hand, Belichick wanted to replicate the “Patriot Way”, the good ole “Do your job”. But that doesn’t work at this level. Not now at least. Do you really expect them to replicate the professionalism and competitiveness of Tom Brady? They themselves anointed the program “The 33rd team,” claiming to have the goal of being the closest to a NFL program that college can get.

The thing is, despite this supposed promise of professionalism, the man at the top is banning his former NFL employer from scouting their practices and games, therefore making it even harder for his players to get noticed by the league. The reason? Not professional reasons, personal ones.

What is Belichick trying to accomplish at UNC? He isn’t a college coach. It’s very obvious he’s just out of his element and to be honest, the signs were there in the last few years as Patriots coach. You can see the game begin to pass him by, the loss of Tom Brady began to look more and more painful for Belichick.

Instead of taking the Jon Gruden route of trying to just talk about the game and let your legacy to the talking, he decided to do, well, whatever he’s trying to do now at UNC. He’s staffing the place with "yes men." and his personal life does way more damage than good. It all seems like a fever dream that will harm UNC more than it will benefit the legacy of Belichick, as he’s done a great job himself of taking away from it.

We'll see how it all plays out from here. But it's not a good look to say the least. Time will tell but it well and truly appears that the football has left the once GOAT of NFL head coaches.
