The Bill Belichick experiment at North Carolina has been a trainwreck. From the lack of execution on the field to the ludacris demands from a marketing standpoint. A once respected coach has sullied his name to the point of no return. The way he has driven UNC's football program in disarray in less than a year has to be studied.
There have been reports of Belichick working on an "exit strategy" as the head coach of the Tar Heels. Whether he stays or he goes, his time as a coach has come to an end. There is nothing he can add to a team in his present state. Go live your life as a TV personality. Here's some of the reactions to the news on social media.
If the news about Belichick is true, then it’s a real sh** show at UNC right now! 😅 #BillBelichick #NorthCarolina #Football pic.twitter.com/0Xd9mUD1tl

The Belichick disaster seemed so inevitable. Old grumpy NFL coach who lost his touch in the league. Going to college for the first time with almost no connections to the sport. Portal + NIL era has been difficult for even established coaches. Roster bad. Couldn’t connect with the…

The 10am Ludacris concert will easily go down as my favorite moment of the Belichick tenure at UNC. pic.twitter.com/6munTbXbVo

North Carolina had a chance to replace Mack Brown with a younger, hungrier coach better equipped to steer the program into this modern era. Instead it hired a name because somebody with money wanted to buy themself Bill Belichick for Christmas.

One of the greatest strengths Tom Brady had was a very attractive romantic partner who was already a billionaire, allowing him to be paid well under market value to surround himself with Super Bowl-caliber talent.

Belichick seems to have learned all the wrong lessons from this.
Tom Brady went 249-77 as the Patriots’ starter (including playoffs).

Bill Belichick was 84-103 (44.9% winning percentage) without Tom Brady.
Maybe it's time to finally admit Brady made Belichick. pic.twitter.com/3pPhFIXYyD
Belichick's historic time in the NFL is going to be scarred because of bitterness and a shallow sense of self-worth. UNC's football team has been abysmal from top to bottom. The “defensive guru” has his team giving up 30.8 points a game while only averaging 13. You can’t even say this is something we expect because at least the defense was admirable. Now he's gone the route that he asked his former players not to do by addressing the media.
To tell the media you can’t talk about the same franchise whose success created the idea of . bringing you to the program is asinine. You were once a person who changed the mentality of hundreds of football players and now you’re sitting at 2-3, getting blown out, and enforcing your own agendas to anyone who will listen. There’s no amount of winning that can save you from the scandalous and frivolous things that have transpired in less than a year.
It’s no longer “ Just Do Your Job”, it’s now “Your Job Is Done.”
