The nation's number 1 overall recruit, a quarterback, is Keisean Henderson. And he hasn't committed to one of the traditional college football powers.
Nope. On national early signing day, Henderson locked in his commitment to play for the Houston Cougars and head coach Willie Fritz.
It's a gigantic recruiting win for Houston amid a program turnaround under Fritz.

Why did Keisean Henderson choose Houston?
Henderson formed a bond with his entire recruiting class, which helped once he started to consider Houston as an option.
“It’s more so like a brotherhood,” Henderson told PaperCity Magazine. “We went from being a cohesive unit to being more so a brotherhood. The bond is already real. We check in every week with each other. A couple of us, we check in every other day. I got a big bond with (linebacker) Bryson (Castile), (receiver/cornerback/returner) Paris (Melvin Jr.) And (wide receiver) (Jeremiah) Bushnell. We kind of talk almost every day. Regardless, we just support each other.”
Henderson attends Legacy the School of Sports Sciences in Spring, Texas.

He and his class have noticed Houston moving in the right direction in a hurry.
“It’s a great environment," Legacy coach Michael Bishop told PaperCity Magazine. "When you come out on Saturdays, you see it. You feel it. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of it? The Houston Cougars are a team on the rise.”
A player of Henderson's talent could've played anywhere he wanted.
That he chose Houston speaks volumes about what the Cougars are building. And when he finally gets to campus, it'll be up to him to do that building first-hand.
