Who is Whit Weeks?
Whit Weeks is an explosive linebacker for the LSU Tigers, known for his relentless pursuit of the ball and high-level tackling ability that helped transform the Tigers' defense. Weeks was a second-team Sporting News preseason All-American. A native of Watkinsville, Georgia, Weeks comes from a strong football lineage; his father, David Weeks, was a three-year starter on the offensive line for the rival Georgia Bulldogs in the 1990s.
Weeks played his high school football at Oconee County High School, where he was a highly productive two-way athlete, earning the title of Region 8-3A Player of the Year as a senior.
The linebacker has an exceptional college career. He made an immediate impact upon arriving in Baton Rouge, but his breakout came during his sophomore season in 2024, when he emerged as one of the SEC's top defenders. Weeks' aggressive play style and versatility were critical to LSU's success
Weeks's sophomore season in 2024 was exceptional, earning him First-team All-SEC honors from both the Associated Press and SEC Coaches. His 125 total tackles ranked 8th in LSU history and second in the SEC. He also earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors twice. He had a clutch performance in an overtime win against Ole Miss in 2024, where he tallied a career-best 18 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble, was a major turning point for the LSU defense. Weeks is joined by his brother West Weeks, a fellow linebacker who transferred from Virginia.

Lane Kiffin coaching history
Kiffin's coaching career has been marked by a series of high-profile and often brief stops at various levels of football. He began his career as an assistant, notably serving on Pete Carroll's staff at USC from 2001 to 2006, rising to offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach and contributing to national championships.
Kiffin's first head coaching opportunity came in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders (2007-2008), making him the youngest head coach in the modern era at the time. His tenure ended in controversy, and he quickly moved back to the college ranks, taking the head job at Tennessee (2009) for one season before returning to USC (2010-2013) as head coach, where he was famously fired on the airport tarmac early in his fourth season.
Following his dismissal from USC, Kiffin successfully rehabilitated his career as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Alabama (2014-2016) under Nick Saban, where he helped the Crimson Tide win a national championship in 2015. This stint helped pave the way for his next head coaching role at Florida Atlantic from 2017 to 2019. At FAU, he quickly turned the program around, leading the Owls to two Conference USA titles and two 11-win seasons, an achievement that represented a significant turnaround for the program. His success at FAU led to his hiring as the head coach at Ole Miss in 2020.
Under Kiffin, Ole Miss has experienced a period of unprecedented success, posting multiple 10-win seasons, something that had not been achieved often in program history. The 2023 season proved to be a historic highlight, as Kiffin led the Rebels to an 11-2 overall record. This marked the best season in Ole Miss history in terms of wins and was capped by a dominant 38-25 victory over Penn State in the Peach Bowl. The Rebels' success in 2023 was built on a balanced offensive attack and Kiffin's mastery of the transfer portal, solidifying his status as one of the top coaches in the college game.
