When the College Football Playoff expanded to 12 teams in 2024, one of the most-anticipated new additions was on-site games in the first round. For the first time in college football history, there were playoff games on college campuses; this included the eventual champions, Ohio State, who hosted Tennesssee in Columbus.
Now, in the second year of the 12-team Playoff, four more championship contenders are set to host first round games. This includes SEC programs in Texas A&M and Ole Miss, along with two other championship contenders. The road teams, who are the No. 9 through No. 12 seeds in the bracket, are looking to become the first team to pull off a road win in the Playoff.
Let's look at when the College Football Playoff first round games will be and the action will begin.
