Diego Pavia is the heartbeat of this magical, historic Vanderbilt Commodores football season.

And he's traveled quite the journey to get here.

In a story told many times now, Pavia began his career at the junior college level at New Mexico Military Institute for two seasons.

He parlayed strong play there into a move up to New Mexico State for two more seasons.
