FAMU (2-4) staged a spirited second-half comeback to edge Alcorn State 33-28 during homecoming weekend. Quarterback RJ Johnson III, reinstated as the starter, delivered his most impressive performance since arriving in Tallahassee, throwing for 323 yards and accounting for two touchdowns to lead the rally.
Meanwhile, Southern (1-6) continues to spiral after suffering its fifth straight defeat, a 24-3 home drubbing at the hands of Prairie View A&M. The loss proved costly for head coach Terrence Graves, who was dismissed just a year after steering the Jaguars to the SWAC Championship Game. Former Alcorn State head coach Fred McNair will step in as interim boss, debuting against FAMU this weekend.
