The UConn Huskies appear on the verge of a home run hire.
Toledo's Jason Candle seems set to head to Connecticut to be the new head football coach.
Long-time Toledo reporter Kyle Rowland reported Saturday morning that an announcement is expected soon.
"Jason Candle is trending UConn," Rowland wrote on X. "Expect an official announcement this morning. Home run for the Huskies. Candle is Toledo's all-time wins leader. One of the top G5 recruiters in the country. Incredible eye for talent. Tremendous player developer. He will elevate UConn's roster."

Candle turned Toledo into one of the MAC's consistently excellent programs.
In addition to success on the field each season, Candle's roster also became a producer of NFL talent year after year.
Players went to Toledo knowing that Candle could develop them into college stars and then players capable of getting to the next level, too.
Jim Mora just left UConn for Colorado State, creating the opening with the Huskies.
UConn for a long time was a doormat on the football field, but they went 9-3 in the regular season this year and now have a chance to build some serious momentum.
It'll be up to Candle to keep that fire burning. Given what he did at Toledo, there's little doubt that he can lead the Huskies to a bright future.
