The North Carolina Tar Heels fanbase was looking forward to the first game of the Bill Belichick era on Monday night against the TCU Horned Frogs. North Carolina got out to a 7-0 lead early against TCU and it would be the only time that Tar Heels fans would be excited during the game.

The Horned Frogs dominated the game against the Tar Heels after that, and they won the game by a final score of 48-14. The debut of Belichick on the sidelines with North Carolina did not go as planned. It will be interesting to see how the Tar Heels will bounce back from this lopsided loss. A lot of college football fans were also roasting him during the loss on Monday night on Twitter as well.

North Carolina Tar Heels Coach Bill Belichick Makes Obvious Comments During Postgame

The Tar Heels head coach spoke to the media after the game. Belichick said to Brendan Marks of the Athletic,

"Look, they just outplayed us. They out-coached us. I mean, they were just better than we were tonight."

The Horned Frogs were better than the Tar Heels in all three phases of the game. One of the things that will need to be decided before the next game for North Carolina will be who will be the starting quarterback. Gio Lopez was the starting quarterback in this game, but he struggled. Max Johnson came in relief for him and looked better.

Lopez completed 4-of-10 passes for 69 yards and one interception. Johnson completed 9-of-11 passes for 103 yards and one touchdown. Based of those stats alone, Belichick should make a quarterback change for Week 2 against the Charlotte 49ers. That is a game that North Carolina will have to win, otherwise it is going to be a long year for Belichick and company.
