Before the start of the season, Texas Tech was No. 23 in the Preseason AP Poll. Fast forward to now, the Red Raiders are 12-1 and Big 12 champions.

Texas Tech has one of the best overall defensive units in all of college football. The Red Raiders' linebacker room could be one of the deepest in the country. Seniors Jacob Rodriguez led the team in total tackles, while David Bailey led the entire nation in solo sacks.

Following their 34-7 win over BYU in the Big 12 championship, Texas Tech has earned the No. 4 seed in the CFP. This means that the Red Raiders will have a first-round bye.

Texas Tech will get some needed rest and preparation for its quarterfinal matchups. The Red Raiders await the winner of No. 5 Oregon vs. No. 12 JMU.
