The Arch Manning era did not get off to the flying start many in the Longhorns believed it would. However, with their upset win over Texas A&M (No. 3 in the country at the time), there is an off chance they sneak into the College Football Playoffs.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian pitched his case for his Longhorns immediately after the game. Sarkisian essentially threatened the committee that big out-of-conference games would be obsolete if they were punished for their record.
Texas is not expected to magically move into a playoff seed without playing a game during the conference championship week, but you can't blame the head coach for trying to fight for his guys.
