AUSTIN, Texas — Texas capped a big weekend on and off the field, pairing a 52-37 win over Arkansas with a significant addition to its 2026 recruiting class ahead of next week’s home date with Texas A&M. Georgetown (TX) running back Jett Walker flipped his commitment from Minnesota to the Longhorns on Sunday after an official visit to the Forty Acres.

Walker, a 2026 prospect with more than 5,000 career rushing yards at Georgetown High School, had been pledged to Minnesota following an earlier commitment to West Virginia. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound back lives within an easy drive of Austin and chose to stay close to home, giving coach Steve Sarkisian another productive, big-framed runner in a key in-state cycle.

Walker announced his flip Sunday evening, turning down the Gophers’ Big Ten opportunity in favor of a spot in Texas’ SEC backfield. His recruitment included multiple twists, but his relationship with Longhorns running backs coach Chad Scott, who had previously recruited him and continued to pursue him in Austin, proved to be a central factor.
Scott’s pitch focused on Walker’s fit in Texas’ physical, downhill run scheme, a style that aligns with the Central Texas product’s reputation as a powerful, high-volume runner.
With Walker in the fold, Texas adds another in-state playmaker to a 2026 class that continued to grow during a statement weekend at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium. The Longhorns are set to take on the Texas A&M Aggies from DKR on Friday, November 28, at 6:30 pm.
