Jason Witten’s new role at Oklahoma is sharing the spotlight with his son, Cooper, who is emerging as one of the top prospects in the 2027 class. The Liberty Christian standout was featured on Thursday, with Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his staff only amplifying the buzz around his recruitment.

Cooper Witten is a 2027 five-star linebacker and wide receiver at Liberty Christian School in Argyle, Texas. Drawing from his last name and his athleticism, he has quickly become one of the top defensive prospects in the country. He already holds offers from national powers such as LSU, Michigan, Oregon, and USC, with SEC and Big Ten programs heavily involved in his recruitment.

Texas A&M has made a particularly strong push, recently hosting Witten on an unofficial visit that included time with Elko and multiple members of the Aggies’ defensive staff. Gabe Brooks of 247Sports evaluated Witten last April and praised him as “an athletic, physical, likely role-versatile second-level defensive piece who plays with a relentless motor.” Brooks highlighted Witten’s natural football IQ and instincts, along with “outstanding combine testing numbers in spring 2025.”
The report highlighted Witten’s elite background and multi-sport experience, citing his verified 10.91-second 100-meter dash at about 210 pounds as proof of his top speed. Cooper also has offers from in-state rival Texas Longhorns and other SEC teams like LSU and Ole Miss.
