Texas Head Coach Steve Sarkisian provided an update on Tre Wisner's injury status. The Longhorns’ junior running back, Quintrevion Wisner, may sit out another week.

Sarkisian said Monday, “I'm not ruling him out, but I would say it's doubtful. Again, at this juncture of the season I'm just not in a rush to push guys back out there if they're not close to 100 percent. I just know how long this thing goes and I know what it looks like in October and November and December and hopefully January. Is the juice worth the squeeze?”.

With Wisner sidelined, Texas rotated in CJ Baxter, Jerrick Gibson, and Christian Clark, each getting significant carries against San Jose State. Sarkisian emphasized the depth and long-term health of the roster in holding Wisner out and allowing other backs to gain experience early in the season.

Wisner is dealing with a leg injury that led the Texas coaching staff to hold him out of Saturday’s win over San Jose State for precautionary reasons. The specific incident or play that caused the injury has not been detailed in public statements, but Sarkisian described the decision as prioritizing Wisner’s long-term health rather than pressing him into action while still recovering. Wisner was seen in street clothes during pregame warmups, confirming that the staff opted to rest him to avoid further risk.
