Ferris State is closing in on a perfect regular season, but the top-ranked team in Division II has two more hurdles to clear first.
The Bulldogs (9-0) face consecutive road tests to finish out GLIAC play, beginning Saturday at Saginaw Valley State. The Cardinals (5-4) have had an up-and-down season, bouncing from a 1-3 start to a four-game winning streak before falling at Davenport last weekend.
Dual-threat QB Mason McKenzie leads the way for Saginaw Valley, averaging 185.3 yards through the air and 90.8 on the ground. He has five 100-yard rushing games this season.
Ferris State boasts a similarly balanced but more explosive attack, averaging 53.9 points per game behind QB Wyatt Bower, who has 18 touchdown passes to just one interception this season. The redshirt freshman also leads the Bulldogs with 639 rushing yards and has 11 more TDs on the ground.
