The Oregon Ducks got themselves a good one in Bishop Gorman (Nevada) safety Jett Washington.

While the 6-foot-5, 210-pound rangy defensive back has stolen headlines for being the nephew of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, Washington has carved out a path all his own.

And he's being rewarded for that hard work and dedication.

In ESPN's updated class rankings, Washington jumped to five-star status.

His profile lists him as the nation's No. 21 overall recruit, while the write-up says he sits at No. 22.

Either way, that's good for a fifth star.

Here's what ESPN had to say about Washington as a prospect:

"Washington was the first player ranked outside of five-star range in our previous update. After seeing him perform in a high school camp workout this offseason, it was clear that needed to change."

"Washington, who also excels in basketball, initially played wide receiver in high school before making a nice transition to safety. He is a long, rangy presence at roughly 6-foot-5 who covers ground from sideline to sideline."

"Washington has good ball skills and uses his size to elevate and high-point the ball to win contested matchups. He has also shown physicality in addition to his excellent measurables."

For the Bishop Gorman star, his recent commitment to Oregon was all about the feeling that he had found home.

"I just felt the time was right," he said. "I took my (official visits) and saw what I needed to see. They have built a great relationship with me and my family."

Overall, Oregon's 2026 recruiting class is ranked 30 nationally and consists of just 10 pledges - lots of room to climb the rankings.

Dan Lanning's group is led by Washington and elite tight end/basketball prospect Kendre Harrison, out of Reidsville (North Carolina).
