One surprising name to watch in Arkansas' coaching search image

Arkansas’ coaching search took a notable turn this week after Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde publicly endorsed South Florida coach Alex Golesh as a strong candidate to lead the Razorbacks.

With several early targets no longer in play, Golesh has quickly risen to be a serious possibility and one of the most discussed names in the Razorbacks’ search.

Forde appeared on The Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday and hit on many of college football's coaching openings. Golesh’s rebuild at South Florida is reportedly a major selling point.

“I think Alex Golesh at South Florida has done a good job there, could be in play possibly at Arkansas,” Forde said.

Golesh's background in modern offensive systems could reshaped the SEC with Arkansas benefiting. If Razorback's athletic director Hunter Yurachek is seeking a next-level hire to take his football team further, look at what Golesh inherited and where USF is at now. The consecutive losing seasons are now back-to-back bowl appearances.

With Rhett Lashlee and James Franklin off the board, Golesh now sits firmly among Arkansas’ top options. Whether Yurachek will realize how much of a potential fit he could be remains to be seen. The Razorbacks look to reset their program and have a deep pool to pull from before the start of 2026.
