Oklahoma fans wasted no time taunting Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin on Saturday.

The Sooners faithful used the “Gator Chomp" amid swirling rumors linking the Rebels coach to the Florida vacancy. They broke into the gesture early in the game vs. Ole Miss, drawing social media reactions. It came just hours after Kiffin confirmed he addressed the Florida rumors with his team for the first time.

ESPN’s Molly McGrath reported that Kiffin, who typically avoids in-season speculation, decided to speak directly with his players before the game. “He’s actually going to do things differently today in their team meeting. He is going to address those (Florida) rumors with his players,” McGrath said Friday on SportsCenter.

Kiffin later explained his decision saying, “That’s a product of having a program with a lot of players and coaches doing a really good job. I just told them, ‘Hey guys, this is what happens around here because we win games and people like the style that we play.’”

Kiffin is one of the highest-paid coaches in college football at $9 million per year, with up to $2.6 million in bonuses. His buyout sits just over $36 million. If Florida came in hot with an official offer and he accepted, Kiffin would likely be in the top two on the nation’s highest-paid coaches list.
