Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith promises win over Michigan: 'I just hate them' image

The Ohio State Buckeyes-Michigan Wolverines rivalry is one of the best in college sports.

But it definitely gets ramped up a level in football, as the storied programs often have a lot on the line when they face one another.

Last year provided another unique chapter in the long history, as unranked Michigan beat then-No. 7 Ohio State 13-10 in a big upset.

But the Buckeyes went on to win the national championship - and the loss seemed to serve as a wake-up call for an Ohio State squad that suddenly became an unstoppable force.

That Michigan loss didn't sit right with soon-to-be sophomore wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, who has already blossomed into college football's most dangerous weapon.

In fact, Smith told The Athletic that he promises he'll never lose to Michigan again in his college career.

“I’m not a sore loser, but I hate losing, and losing to that team up north was pretty crazy,” Smith told The Athletic. “In the end, I think it really helped us play the way we did in the playoffs. But I didn’t want to go to Ohio State and lose to that team up north. I just hate them. Just something about them. For the next two years, I promise you, I will not lose to them. I can’t lose to them in the next two years.”

A motivated Smith is a dangerous prospect.

As a freshman, the Ohio State star established himself as one of the best wide receiver prospects in recent history, hauling in 76 receptions for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound pass-catcher likely would've been a top-five pick in April's NFL Draft, but he wasn't eligible.

And won't be for two more years.

That's good news for Ohio State and bad news for the rest of college football, particularly Michigan it sounds like.

Ohio State plays at Michigan on November 29.
