As the college football coaching carousel heats up, Oklahoma State has emerged as a program weighing an unconventional option. Could they try to level up with an NFL coordinator with deep ties to Stillwater?
PFF analyst Max Chadwick recently linked Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson to the Cowboys’ vacancy. He projecting the former Oklahoma State quarterback as a potential successor to Mike Gundy. Robinson starred in Stillwater from 2005 to 2009 and still ranks fourth in program history in passing yards and touchdowns.
“Following 21 years with Mike Gundy at the helm, Oklahoma State’s next head coach may be one of Gundy’s former quarterbacks,” Chadwick wrote. “Robinson would be a familiar face on the sidelines and would ease the transition to the post-Gundy era.”

Robinson has spent the past seven seasons in the NFL, including a stint under Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay, who's one of the league’s most respected offensive strategists. His rise helped land him the Falcons’ offensive coordinator role this season.
But Robinson’s candidacy comes with questions. Atlanta ranks 27th in the NFL in scoring at 19.5 points per game. Also, he has never coached at the college level. However, his ties to the program and NFL experience keeps him firmly in the conversation as Oklahoma State continues its search going into the offseason.
