TL;DR
- Nebraska faces the same Raiola transfer portal issue as last season, with growing concerns he may leave.
- Dylan Raiola's brother Dayton withdrew his commitment from Nebraska, a significant indicator of potential departure.
- Raiola's potential transfer is unlikely due to financial incentives, as he is projected to earn well.
- He might follow a path similar to Carson Beck, Dillon Gabriel, or Jalen Hurts, transferring for one season before the NFL Draft.
It’s a year later and Nebraska has the same Raiola issue. Last season the Cornhuskers were able to keep Raiola out of the transfer portal. This year might be a different story.
According to CBS Sports, last offseason Raiola had “informal conversations” with additional programs regarding a possible transfer. Nothing ever came of that last year, but there are growing concerns he could look to greener pastures.
Should Raiola decide against Nebraska, indications would have been present. Last week, Dylan's brother Dayton withdrew his commitment from Nebraska. This marked the initial substantial domino to topple. CBS's Dominic Raiola, Dylan Raiola's father and a former Cornhusker, reportedly refused to comment.
Should Raiola decide to enter the transfer portal, financial incentives probably won't be the primary factor. Raiola is projected to earn $3.5 million in 2025. Furthermore, Nebraska is anticipated to boost its overall NIL/revenue share distribution in the upcoming season.
Raiola is approaching his third year in 2026. Should he opt to enter the transfer portal, a clear path exists for him. As he'll be eligible for the NFL Draft following the 2026 season, Raiola might emulate the journeys of Carson Beck, Dillon Gabriel, or Jalen Hurts. Each of them concluded their college careers with a single season at a different institution before declaring for the draft.
Having spent two seasons in Lincoln, Raiola has amassed nearly 5,000 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions, with a completion percentage of 69.1. His passing yardage has decreased in 2025, largely because he missed games due to injury (a fractured fibula).
However, everything else was a step up. In 2025 his completion percentage is up, 72.4% vs 67.1% in 2024. His touchdowns are up, 18 vs 13 in 2024. His interceptions are also significantly less, 6 in 2025 vs 11 in 2024.
Raiola has not as of yet made any significant indications of his intentions, but there does seem to be some concern with the Nebraska quarterback. The transfer portal officially opens on January 2nd.
