The College Football Playoff is right around the corner and the Georgia Bulldogs appear to be a lock to be one of the teams in the field.

Kirby Smart and company are set for a massive showdown against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game. Ahead of the game, Georgia holds the No. 3 ranking in the nation, while Alabama is currently ranked No. 9.

One team that has no clue what to expect when it comes to the playoff picture is the Vanderbilt Commodores. Ahead of this weekend's championship games, reports came out that Vanderbilt was trying to schedule another game. No takers emerge and the Commodores will have to rely on their current record and status and hope to get in.

With Vanderbilt trying to schedule another game, Smart took some time to speak out about the situation. He also took a subtle shot at the Commodores.

"Everyone on the outside looking in wants another game," Smart said. "People would argue you had plenty of games. Everyone on the inside looking out would say, 'I'm good.'"

Truthfully, Smart is 100 percent correct with his assessment of the situation. If Vanderbilt had been able to schedule another sizable game, a win could have helped them sway the committee to let them into the dance.

Unfortunately, as things currently stand, it appears that the Commodores have a much better chance of missing the CFP field than making it in. Right now, they hold a 10-2 record and are the No. 14 overall team in the country. There is an outside chance they could sneak in, but the chances aren't great.

It will be interesting to see what the committee chooses to do. There are plenty of teams on the bubble, with Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns being one of them. One way or another, there is going to be a decent amount of drama when the final playoff field is officially announced.

For Georgia, it's clear that the playoffs will be on the schedule. As for Vanderbilt, the program is holding on by a thread and likely will suffer disappointment.
