If you love hard-nosed, old-school football, Georgia and Georgia Tech delivered exactly that in their November 28 rivalry matchup. The Bulldogs walked away with a gritty 16–9 victory, a score that reflects just how physical and defensive this showdown became.

Georgia Tech entered the game averaging 32.9 points per contest, one of the most efficient offenses in the ACC. Georgia’s defense completely suffocated them, holding the Yellow Jackets to just nine points and forcing quarterback Haynes King into a night where nothing came easy. King completed 19-of-27 passes for 191 yards but added a costly interception and was Tech’s leading rusher with only 39 yards; proof of how disruptive Georgia’s front seven played.

Offensively, Georgia wasn’t much sharper. The Bulldogs came into the matchup averaging 34.3 points but were limited to 16 as both teams traded punts and field-position battles. Quarterback Gunner Stockton struggled, finishing 11-for-21 with 70 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Fortunately, freshman running back Nate Frazier provided a spark, posting 108 yards on 16 tough carries. Zachariah Branch added the lone touchdown catch of the night for Georgia.

Despite the low score, this rivalry once again showed why these teams bring out the best, and worst, in each other. It was physical, chippy, and full of momentum swings.

Now Georgia turns its attention to the SEC Championship, where Alabama or Ole Miss awaits. The Bulldogs didn’t win pretty, but in rivalry week, survival is often enough. The next game, however, will demand much more.
