The Oregon Ducks suspended wide receiver Jurrion Dickey indefinitely before the start of the 2025 college football season. Head coach Dan Lanning spoke out about the suspension to the media when it was announced back on Aug. 12.

A month later, Dickey is no longer on the team.

Dickey is a former five-star recruit in the class of 2023. He played in 15 games with Oregon's football program and caught two passes for 14 yards receiving in that time span.

Dickey is only 20 years old.

Why did Jurrion Dickey leave Oregon Ducks?

Matt Zenitz, an NFL and college football reporter for CBS Sports, broke the news that the former five-star recruit is leaving Oregon for a JUCO school in California.

"Oregon wide receiver and former Class of 2023 five-star recruit Jurrion Dickey is no longer part of the Ducks program and is joining the team at California JUCO Diablo Valley College," wrote Zenitz.

With Dickey leaving the Ducks program, it will be interesting to see how he will do in JUCO. If Dickey does well in JUCO, he could go back to the NCAA and play for someone else — or even go to the NFL Draft in future years.

It is a shame that Dickey never lived up to his full potential with the Ducks, despite his five-star recruit status.

When Lanning spoke of Dickey's suspension in August, he didn't specify the reason, but he did leave breadcrumbs.

"Be respectful, be on time," Lanning said.

"There's some pieces of that where I felt like he needed a break from us and we needed a break from that so we could focus on what's in front of us right now. Wishing him nothing but the best, as far as success, and want to see him get back to where he can be a contributor somewhere.

"That might be here. That might be somewhere else."

Oregon is 2-0 so far this season in college football and is the fourth-ranked team in the country. The Ducks will head on the road this weekend and begin BIG10 Conference play against the Northwestern Wildcats.

There are a lot of Ducks fans who seemed stunned that Dickey left the program.
