Florida State quarterback Tommy Castellanos announced Tuesday that he will declare for the 2026 NFL Draft, ending his college career after one season with the Seminoles

There was speculation if the Noles signal-caller would sue the NCAA to get an injury waiver for an extra year of eligibility. It appears he would rather go a different route. Castellanos’ representation released a statement reiterating the belief that he deserved another year while voicing support for his move to the draft.

Castellanos transferred to FSU ahead of the 2025 season after spending two years at Boston College, where he emerged as one of the ACC’s most dynamic dual-threat quarterbacks. He previously began his career at UCF in 2022.

“To Florida State, thank you for changing my life,” Castellanos wrote in a social media post. “Being a Seminole has been an absolute dream come true." He went on to say, "I’m proud to graduate from this incredible university and will carry the garnet and gold with me wherever I go.”

Castellanos also acknowledged BC, calling his time there “one of the greatest honors” of his life.

He put together a breakout season at BC in 2023, throwing for 2,248 yards and 15 touchdowns while rushing for 1,113 yards and 13 scores. After an up-and-down 2024 campaign, he transferred to Florida State, where he passed for 2,760 yards and 15 touchdowns and added 557 rushing yards and nine scores, solidifying his NFL ambitions.
