Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has quickly become one of the NFL's most exciting players as he enters the back half of his sophomore season.
Behind the leadership of first-year coach Ben Johnson, the Bears have cruised to an 8-3 mark behind the heroics of Williams' fourth-quarter comebacks and currently are riding a four-game winning streak following Sunday's 31-28 win home win against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“You don’t apologize for any wins in this league,” Williams said. “That’s a historic organization over there, and they got a bunch of great athletes, a bunch of great coaches and things like that. So like I said, you don’t apologize.”
The former USC standout said the Bears' culture is different these days, as Williams' leadership has caught the attention of former NFL defensive end J.J. Watt, who has settled into his role as an in-game analyst with CBS Sports.
"I thought he played really well today," Watt wrote of Williams' performance on 'X.' "There are certainly a few throws he may be frustrated he missed, but 3 TD/0 INT on a day the run game wasn’t quite what it normally is, he stepped up and led the day."
Watt added that the Bears can go as far as the duo of Williams and Johnson takes them, which should excite the fanbase.
"Ben Johnson is the real deal," Watt continued. "Minimizes risk for his players while also taking full advantage of weaknesses in defenses. "But not only that, his personality and leadership is phenomenal. He has been spectacular in our meetings so far this year."
The Bears have a short week before traveling to Philadelphia on Black Friday to play an Eagles team trying to erase the sting of a loss to their division rival, the Dallas Cowboys, in a 24-21 setback Sunday after jumping out to a three-touchdown lead.
Kickoff between the Bears and Eagles is set for 3 p.m. ET/noon PT on Prime Video from Lincoln Financial Field.
