ESPN College GameDay announces location for Week 12 image

ESPN’s College GameDay will set up shop in Pittsburgh ahead of a key showdown between No. 10 Notre Dame and No. 24 Pittsburgh.

The announcement follows one of the wildest weekends of the season, as conference frontrunners Virginia and Louisville were both upset by unranked opponents, cracking open the ACC race and giving the surging Panthers a chance to seize control.

Pitt has won five straight games since Mason Heintschel took over at quarterback and is part of a four-way tie atop the conference standings.

A win over Notre Dame could vault the Panthers into serious playoff consideration, with upcoming tests against Georgia Tech and Miami to end the season.

Notre Dame enters the matchup on a seven-game winning streak after a 49-10 rout of Navy. The Fighting Irish moved up to No. 9 in the latest AP poll and remain firmly in the mix for a 12-team playoff berth if they continue winning.

Oddsmakers opened with Notre Dame as a 10.5-point favorite, but the GameDay visit could inject extra energy into a Pitt team seeking to make a national statement. The broadcast will air live Saturday from Acrisure Stadium.
