It's rare to have a college football player call on POTUS to enact changes to the process.

However, Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia felt like he needed to do so.

The senior passer, who needed a court ruling to get to this point in his career, isn't hiding his frustration with the College Football Playoff selection committee. And he’s aiming his plea all the way to the Oval Office.

After the 10–2 Commodores landed at No. 14 in the latest CFP rankings, Pavia took to X with a request directed at President Donald Trump.

“@realDonaldTrump MAKE THE EXECUTIVE ORDER PLEASE,” he posted late Tuesday.

The message was unmistakable. If the committee won’t expand the field or elevate Vanderbilt into the 12-team bracket, Pavia suggested perhaps a presidential intervention could shake things loose.

But how does this happen late in the season?

At 10-2, Miami, like Vanderbilt, finds itself stuck in a crowded cluster of two-loss hopefuls that also includes Notre Dame.

Vanderbilt and Miami have a legitimate argument. They both have ranked victories, yet minimal traction with the committee. The Commodores remain outside not just the Top 13, despite Pavia’s 36 total touchdowns and his emergence as a late-season Heisman Trophy contender.

For now, the only “executive order” in sight is Championship Weekend. Upsets and scoreboard watching may determine Vanderbilt’s fate. But Pavia’s post reflects the growing angst around the playoff race and the lengths some contenders feel they must go to be heard.
