It was already a bad day for Pittsburgh.
The Panthers' afternoon got worse midway through the third quarter. That's when Desmond Reid left the matchup with Notre Dame with an injury.
Pitt trailed 28-3 at the time of Reid's exit.
Reid is an explosive RB who played a key role in the passing game on Saturday, but he exited and looked unlikely to return.

Desmond Reid injury update
It didn't look good for Reid.
He's already dealt with an ankle injury this season.
On this one, Reid needed multiple teammates to essentially carry him off the field. He didn't put any weight on his legs as they brought him off.
The ABC broadcast shared that Reid went to the blue medical tent.
Given the initial appearance of the injury, and the score, it doesn't seem likely that Reid will play again on Saturday.
The Panthers at this point will cross their fingers that they can have Reid for their final two ACC games.
