Byrum Brown schedules Auburn visit, eyes reunion with Alex Golesh image

South Florida quarterback Byrum Brown has entered the transfer portal and scheduled his first visit. No surprise as the Bulls top passer visits Auburn. A move that could reunite him with former coach Alex Golesh, sources confirmed to ESPN on Saturday.

Auburn is Brown’s likely destination, as the Tigers look to inject life into one of the least productive Power Four offenses in the country last season. Auburn finished 5-7 in 2025 and ranked 99th nationally in passing offense and 74th in scoring.

Brown has one season of eligibility remaining and could make it happen in the SEC. While directing Golesh’s up-tempo offense at South Florida, Brown led all FBS quarterbacks with 42 total touchdowns and averaged 347.2 yards of total offense per game.

Brown completed 66.3% of his passes for 3,158 yards with 28 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while rushing for 1,008 yards and 14 scores. Brown also recorded at least 100 rushing yards in six games.

Under Golesh, USF went 9-4 and recorded early-season upsets of then-No. 25 Boise State and then-No. 13 Florida, climbing as high as No. 18 in the AP Top 25.

In four seasons with the Bulls, Brown threw for 7,690 yards with 61 touchdowns and added 2,265 rushing yards and 31 scores.

Golesh was hired Nov. 30 to replace Hugh Freeze, who was fired after a 4-5 start. Auburn has endured five straight losing seasons under Freeze and Bryan Harsin. The program also has just three double-digit win seasons since 2010.
