The reason for Javier Pavia's apprehension remains unclear.
According to the Knoxville News Sentinel's Tyler Whetstone, a Tennessee Highway Patrol officer apprehended Javier Pavia at the Vanderbilt vs. Tennessee event on Saturday, filing charges of public intoxication against him.
Pavia reportedly "had a flag blocking people’s view" at the game, and "refused to take it down" before getting "mouthy with an officer."

The Knoxville News Sentinel's Mike Wilson later confirmed with The Knox County Sheriff’s Office, stating Pavia had been taken into custody for public intoxication, and a police record indicated that Pavia "was repeatedly spoken to by University of Tennessee event staff about blocking the view of others with a flag and told him to remove the flag."
Pavia allegedly had a disagreement with attendees at the gathering, and the law enforcement official who documented the apprehension stated that Pavia "was slurring his speech, unsteady on his feet and appeared drunk."

Javier's elder sibling, Roel, who was then "confronted the officers" and "pushed one of the officers in the chest in an attempt to stop his brother’s arrest."
