There have been several names thrown out there for the Auburn coaching position, but one name that has popped up that may surprise some Auburn fans, and that is Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham.

Dillingham's name came up in Fox college football analyst Brock Huard's conversation on "The Next Round" when he was asked by host Lance Taylor who he thought would be a great fit for Auburn.

"It looks like Kenny Dillingham, by a slight lean right now, according to Vegas, is the odds-on favorite, he said. "Can you pry him out of his hometown? Does he look at the Big 12 and say no, I'd rather build a powerhouse where I went to school, where I know the inside out."

"Maybe he comes to the Plains and brings (Sam) Leavitt with him."

Huard reminded the audience that while Dillingham was at Oregon, he brought former Auburn quarterback Bo Nix to Eugene and developed him into a first-round draft pick of the Denver Broncos.

Dillingham is also familiar with the Southeast. He was also the offensive coordinator with the Florida State Seminoles.

The question is, as Huard said, would Dillingham be willing to leave his alma mater for Auburn?

He led them to the College Football Playoff last season and was on the brink of pulling an upset of the Texas Longhorns in the quarterfinals, losing in double overtime, 39-31.

According to Huard's colleague, Joel Klatt, Auburn is not the most attractive job at the moment, so maybe they may need to look at someone like Dillingham as a possible candidate rather than shoot for a big-name head coach.
