Grayson (GA) senior quarterback Travis Burgess announced he will miss the remainder of his senior season after suffering an injury in last week’s game.

The four-star North Carolina commit, who led Grayson to the GHSA Class 6A state championship in 2023, shared the news on social media, thanking his family, teammates, coaches, and the North Carolina program for their support.

“I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, calls, and messages— it truly means the world to me,” Burgess wrote. “Unfortunately, due to the injury I suffered last Friday, I won’t be able to finish out the season with my brothers on the field. It has been a blessing to represent Grayson, play in front of such amazing fans, and be coached by some of the best.”

At 6-foot-5, 205 pounds, Burgess is rated the No. 7 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class and the No. 65 overall player nationally, according to 247Sports. He's also the top passer in the state of Georgia.

Burgess threw for 2,255 yards and 23 touchdowns with just four interceptions while adding 596 rushing yards and four more scores last year. He had started this season strong, completing 16-of-31 passes for 329 yards and three touchdowns through two games before the injury.

Burgess’s absence leaves North Carolina with a hole in its future recruiting class. The Tar Heels had targeted Zaid Lott in 2026 before his commitment to Syracuse, making Burgess the lone quarterback pledge before the injury.
