Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles plans to enter the transfer portal, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, marking the second transfer of his college career.
Chiles began his career at Oregon State, where he arrived as a highly regarded prospect and played as a true freshman during the 2023 season. He appeared in a rotational role under head coach Jonathan Smith before following Smith to Michigan State ahead of the 2024 season. Chiles went on to become the Spartans’ primary starting quarterback over the past two years in East Lansing.
Chiles has one season of eligibility remaining. He has appeared in 30 games across three combined seasons at Oregon State and Michigan State, including 21 games with the Spartans.
Over his career, Chiles has totaled 4,116 passing yards and 27 passing touchdowns, while also adding a significant rushing element to his game with 531 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground. He also had 14 interceptions in the past three seasons. Only three in last season in 203 attempts.
Chiles showed flashes of his upside during the 2025 season, most notably in a strong performance against Indiana. In that game, he completed 27-of-33 passes for 243 yards and a touchdown, while also leading Michigan State in rushing with 48 yards.
His decision to re-enter the portal adds another experienced quarterback to a market expected to be active this offseason, as programs continue to search for proven starters with remaining eligibility.
