The transfer portal season is just heating up.

With the Syracuse Orange finishing 3-9 and not going to a bowl game, players are already making decisions on their future plans.

The latest to announce an entry into the portal is Caden Brown.

Brown is a linebacker, and he posted his departure decision on social media on Monday.

He has three years of eligibility remaining.

"My two years at Syracuse University have been a period of tremendous personal and athletic growth," Brown wrote on X. "I am proud to have developed my skill set as a versatile football player here. I extend my sincere gratitude to all of my coaches and teammates for their support and mentorship. I especially want to thank the loyal Syracuse fans. As I look ahead, I am eager to explore new opportunities and commit my work ethic, passion and dedication to my next team. I will be entering the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining."

One of the most notable aspects of Brown is that he's a second-generation SU football player. His father, Alban Brown, was also a linebacker for the Orange.

Alban made 31 tackles in his senior season, his first year as a defensive starter after shining on special teams before that.

Caden Brown is from Brooklyn, where he played at Erasmus Hall High School. He originally chose the Orange over a long offer list that also included Boston College, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and West Virginia.
