The Michigan Wolverines saved their season this past Saturday with a 24-22 win against the Northwestern Wildcats at Wrigley Field in Chicago, needing a game-winning field goal to escape a Wildcats team seeking one win to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2023.
Sitting at 8-2 with two games remaining, the Wolverines' Week 14 matchup with the Ohio State Buckeyes looms large Thanksgiving weekend. But this Saturday in College Park, another test awaits the Wolverines in the lowly Maryland Terrapins.
The Terrapins have seen a tailspin of six consecutive losses all but ruin a once-promising 4-0 start. It came to a breaking point this past Saturday with a 24-6 loss in Champaign to the bowl-eligible Illinois Fighting Illini. Despite their recent struggles, Wolverines coach Sherrone Moore is refusing to discount the Terrapins as a throwaway game.
“Don’t even talk about the final game," Moore said Monday about the Wolverines hosting the Buckeyes. "Don’t do it. It’s not a trap game. This is a good team; this is not a trap game.
Moore said the Terrapins are undervalued and overlooked, hence why he is taking each game one at a time.
"There is nothing about this game that is a trap game. There’s zero trap game on this," Moore said. "This is a really good team that, if you don’t play well, you will get beat.”
Terrapins coach Mike Locksley isn't just focusing on the Wolverines, but vows a new era is coming to College Park.
"We have a vision," Locksley said.
The Terrapins need to win out to make a bowl game, making the Wolverines game a must-watch on the viewing grid for Saturday.
Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET.
