Michigan safety Rod Moore could finally make his season debut this weekend when the Wolverines return to The Big House. After months of recovery from a torn ACL suffered in spring 2024, Moore is listed with a “high probability” to play against Central Michigan, according to head coach Sherrone Moore.

“Yeah, we think there's a good chance that Rod can play this week,” Moore said Monday. “So we've been very cautious with him. No one knows their body like Rod does, and he wanted to play in that game, believe me. And just the timeline of what we said and how we wanted to do it wasn't where we fit. So, but high probability that Rod Moore plays in the game on Saturday. But we'll see, we want to make sure the week goes, he feels right. There's nothing that goes on. There's no swelling or anything in his knee. And it's been good this past couple weeks. So we'll just take it day by day with him.”

Although Moore suited up last week at Oklahoma, he did not see the field. His appearance on the sideline marked the first time he dressed for a game since the 2024 national championship.

The Wolverines took a physical toll in Norman, losing captain and starting left guard Giovanni El-Hadi and cornerback Zeke Berry during the game. Tight end Marlin Klein was sidelined completely, while fellow tight end Hogan Hansen was limited.

Klein, one of quarterback Bryce Underwood’s top targets, is expected to practice this week and could return Saturday, providing another offensive option.

Michigan hosts Central Michigan in Week 3 at noon EDT on BTN, aiming to rebound from its 22-point loss to Oklahoma and regain momentum with key players set to return.
