Michigan star running back Justice Haynes is likely out for the remainder of the regular season after undergoing foot surgery, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Haynes’ recovery timeline remains unclear, though the Wolverines remain hopeful he could return for a potential postseason run.
The Alabama transfer has miss the past two weeks after injuring his foot late in Michigan’s victory over Michigan State on Oct. 25. Before exiting that game, Haynes delivered one of his best performances of the season, rushing 26 times for 152 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-20 win. His sixth 100-yard effort of the year.
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore said Haynes will “probably” miss the rest of the regular season, including next week’s matchup with Ohio State, but added that a postseason return has not been ruled out.

Haynes has been one of the Big Ten’s top offensive players, leading the conference with 122.4 rushing yards per game. He has totaled 857 yards and 10 touchdowns on 7.1 yards per carry despite missing time earlier this year with a rib injury.
In his absence, Jordan Marshall has emerged as the go-to back by posting four straight 100-yard games. However, he suffered a shoulder injury Saturday at Wrigley Field against Northwestern. Moore listed him as day-to-day and expressed confidence in backup Bryson Kuzdzal this week at Maryland, if needed.
