The Michigan Wolverines will be without head coach Sherrone Moore for the next two games due to self imposed suspension tied to the NCAA sign-stealing probe. In Moore’s absence, associate head coach Biff Poggi will guide the team from the sidelines.

Offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey expressed full confidence in Poggi’s ability to handle the responsibility.

“I didn’t know him well, but I knew him. We played those guys when I was at Carolina. We played Biff and met him then, but didn’t really know him personally, and it’s been a joy to get to know him,” Lindsey said.

He added that Poggi’s approach has resonated strongly within the program.

“The guy has a unique personality, and he loves this place. I know that. He loves Sherrone. So, when I got here and then he came soon after, it was good to connect with him and become very close. I think he’ll do a great job for us. I think also the thing that’s important is he’s got a big-picture mentality. He’s been a head coach. He can see that. He’s got a great vibe with the players. I think that’s important, and he’s got experience. So, I think we’re in good hands for the next couple weeks.”

Asked how Moore’s absence could change the team’s preparation, Lindsey pointed to the players’ focus.

“I think our players are really motivated to really focus on what we’re trying to do. Obviously, they love Sherrone… but definitely the focus and the attitude, the energy, and the body language was there for sure.”

Michigan begins this stretch with its home opener against Central Michigan, followed by a road test at Nebraska.
