The Michigan Wolverines have had a few incredible quarterbacks come through their school, with their most recent QB to make the NFL, J.J. McCarthy, getting his first start of the year on Monday Night Football against the Chicago Bears.
His debut started rocky, but in the fourth quarter, he led an incredible comeback to start the Vikings off 1-0 and secure his first win in the NFL. It's a great way to begin his NFL career, and afterwards, he received plenty of appreciation for his game.
But the most heartwarming message came from his fiancée, Katya Kuropas, who shared a message in response to McCarthy's first NFL win on her Instagram story.
J.J. McCarthy's fiancée shares heartwarming reaction to former Michigan QB's first NFL win
"What a night!!" Kuropas wrote. "So proud of you. Keep showing 'em."
McCarthy and Kurpas have been together for over five years, and recently announced that they were expecting a baby boy. She watched McCarthy win the National Championship in 2024 with the Wolverines, and now she's seen the new Vikings quarterback secure his first NFL win.
There were plenty of doubters with McCarthy, thanks in part to Michigan missing the entire 2024 NFL season due to injury. But, in his first NFL start, well over a year since he'd been drafted, McCarthy has proven the first-round selection to be worth it.
The Bears had a commanding lead for the majority of the game, as the Vikings ' offense couldn't piece together much more than two field goal drives through three quarters of play. McCarthy also threw a pick-six, further solidifying the team's hole.

But, in the fourth quarter, McCarthy led three straight touchdown drives, which included an 18-yard touchdown pass to Justin Jefferson, a 27-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Jones, and finally, a 14-yard run for McCarthy to put the Vikings up 27-17.
Chicago couldn't mount a comeback, and the Vikings, thanks to the fourth-quarter heroics from McCarthy, came out on top. It was a wild and incredible way to begin his NFL career, and the heartwarming reaction from his fiancée made this moment even better for McCarthy.
It wasn't the cleanest start to an NFL career, between missing an entire rookie season and then struggling through his first three quarters in the NFL. But, at the end of the day, McCarthy came out on top and led the Vikings to an impressive come-from-behind victory, which netted the former Wolverines quarterback the NFL NFC Offensive Player of the Week Award.
