The Michigan Wolverines are coming into the 2025 College Football Season with a different outlook than in some of their previous years. After Jim Harbaugh left, and a lot of talent departed for the NFL, it's a new-look Michigan team in 2025.

One of the largest changes occurred at quarterback, with Bryce Underwood taking over for the 14th-ranked Michigan Wolverines. They begin the 2025 season against New Mexico on Saturday night, and Underwood will look to get off to a strong start to his college career.

But, as Front Office Sports mentioned on Twitter/X, the Wolverines' starting quarterback is making Michigan football history in his first start with the team.

Bryce Underwood Makes Michigan History

"Today, at 18 years and 11 days old, (Bryce Underwood) becomes the youngest starting QB in the 146-year history of Michigan football." Front Office Sports posted on Twitter/X.

This incredible bit of history was identified by Brandon Koretz. He also mentioned the previous youngest, Rick Leach, in 1975, was a dual-sport athlete in football and baseball. Leach was an All-American in both.

While Underwood is solely focused on football, he does have a lot of other facts that make his history-making start against New Mexico noteworthy.

He's a true freshman and the number one recruit in the Nation's 2025 recruiting class. Also, Underwood is on a reported $12.5 million NIL deal, as Front Office Sports mentioned.

It's an incredible feat for Underwood, as he begins what is already a historic career at Michigan. He's coming off a strong Senior season in High School, where he had 2,509 passing yards and 32 touchdowns with six interceptions. He also showed off his dual-threat ability, rushing for over 600 yards with six touchdowns on the ground.

His College Football Debut will set Michigan Wolverines history, as he'll be the youngest quarterback to start for the team in the 146 years the program has been around.

He'll make such history in front of his new home crowd, as Michigan looks to get off to a strong start to the 2025 season against New Mexico.
