South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers may not be done with college football just yet. But his next stop could be in Coral Gables.
On Thursday’s episode of The McShay Show, the former ESPN NFL draft analyst said scouts expect Sellers to return for another season rather than enter the 2026 draft, and he hinted that Miami could be a possible landing spot if the redshirt sophomore leaves Columbia.
“There’s a strong opinion in NFL scouting circles. Sellers will be back in school next year, he absolutely needs to,” McShay said. “There’s some programs out there lurking, and Miami is one of them.”

McShay added that there was no contact or tampering between Miami and Sellers, but added that the Hurricanes have become a destination for quarterbacks looking to elevate their draft stock. He also referenced Cam Ward, who transferred from Washington State and became the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, as well as current starter Carson Beck.
ESPN's NFL draft expert Matt Miller added to the rumor mill as well. "Word on the transfer portal streets is that Miami is ready to break the bank for a QB," he wrote on X. "Gonna be very interesting to see who they get"

Sellers, a small-town South Carolina native, led the Gamecocks to a 9-3 season in his first year as a starter in 2024. He posted 2,534 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and 674 rushing yards. His dual-threat ability and explosive running style, including a 75-yard touchdown against LSU, made him one of the SEC’s instant breakout stars.
If he does enter the portal, Sellers would become one of the top quarterback targets on the market. Miami could once again be at the center of the action with Beck moving on into next year's draft pool.
