Carson Beck shut down a simple question with an even simpler answer during Media Day on Saturday. And in the process, he highlighted how far removed his life is from that of a typical college student.
Beck was asked whether he had attended class earlier in the week or participated in campus events such as a pep rally. Beck didn’t hesitate in the slightest.
“No class. I graduated two years ago,” Beck said. “Obviously I’ve been working toward other degrees now that I’ve gotten to Miami, but these programs take a little longer than just a year to finish. … I’ll be done after this season.”
The exchange was proof of the unusual reality surrounding Beck as he prepares to lead the Miami Hurricanes into the national championship game against Indiana at Hard Rock Stadium.

When asked if he spends time on campus during the week, Beck was just as blunt. “I live in the facility,” he said. “If I’m not at the facility, I’m at home, and I just kind of bounce back and forth. It’s been that way for about the past month.”
Beck has been locked into football since arriving in Miami after transferring from Georgia. As a member of the same 2020 recruiting class as current NFL quarterbacks Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud, his turn in the NFL is coming soon.

His focus reflects what's at stake. Beck’s NIL portfolio reportedly ranges from $3 million to $4 million annually, with some estimates higher when endorsements are included, placing him among the sport’s top earners.
For Beck, there are no lectures to attend or exams to cram for this week. His days are spent in the film room and on the practice field, preparing for one final test.
