Before Gunner Stockton became the leader of a Georgia team with national championship hopes, Carson Beck was under center for the Bulldogs and had some convinced he could one day be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Those hopes were put on pause last season when an elbow injury ended Beck's campaign ahead of the College Football Playoff and forced Stockton into action. Rather than enter the NFL Draft, Beck chose to enter the transfer portal and make the move to Miami.

While Beck couldn't fulfill early-season Heisman Trophy expectations after a hot start, he and the Hurricanes snuck into the playoff and still have hope of a deep run.

Here's what you need to know about Beck's championship history at Georgia.

Has Carson Beck won a championship?

Beck was on the roster for both of Georgia's national championship teams between 2021 and 2022, as he joined the Bulldogs in 2020, but he was not the team's starter and played sparingly over his first three seasons.

Beck attempted 58 passes between 2021 and 2022, throwing six touchdowns and two interceptions primarily as a late-game option at the end of blowout wins. While he didn't take over as Georgia's starter until 2023, Beck has the rings to prove he was a two-time champion even in a backup role.

Georgia QB depth chart 2021-22

2021

RankQB
1Stetson Bennett
2JT Daniels
3D'Wan Mathis
4Carson Beck

Beck spent his second season buried on Georgia's depth chart behind Stetson Bennett, JT Daniels and D'Wan Mathis. After Daniels opened the season as the starter, Bennett took the reins and managed the offense all the way to a national championship while a historically good defense went to work.

2022

RankQB
1Stetson Bennett
2Carson Beck
3Brock Vandagriff

Bennett cemented himself as Georgia's starter for 2022, but Beck moved up into the No. 2 quarterback role while Brock Vandagriff sat behind Bennett and Beck.

Beck only saw action at the end of blowout wins in 2022, which Georgia made pretty routine, and he supported Bennett as the Bulldogs rolled to a second consecutive championship.

Carson Beck career postseason stats

  • 2022 CFP championship game: 2-3, 31 yards
  • 2025 CFP first round: 14-20, 103 yards, 1 TD

Beck didn't start a College Football Playoff game until Miami's first-round matchup with Texas A&M, though he made a late appearance in Georgia's blowout victory over TCU in the national championship game at the end of the 2022 season.

Beck went 14-of-20 for 103 yards and a touchdown in a defensive struggle against Texas A&M, guiding the Hurricanes to a win on the road.

While not a playoff game, Beck started the Orange Bowl against Florida in 2023 and went 13-of-18 for 203 yards and two touchdowns in a 63-3 win.

What year is Carson Beck?

Beck is a sixth-year senior at Miami. Because he was a true freshman in 2020, Beck received the NCAA's additional COVID-19 year of eligibility and redshirted the 2021 season, leaving him with a full four years of eligibility starting with the 2022 campaign.

While many expected Beck to declare for the NFL Draft after the 2024 season, he won't have a choice but to try to turn professional after his season at Miami wraps up.
