Normally, when a coach leaves, players express their love for their former coach; apparently, that is not the case for former LSU head coach Brian Kelly.
Since the school announced that he was fired on Sunday night, several of them have expressed their pleasure at him being let go on social media, including New York Giants wide receiver Malik Neighbors, who was a two-time All-American at LSU, who posted a now-deleted video on Instagram regarding Kelly’s firing with a figure stepping on something.
Former LSU running back Jacob Hester also talked about Kelly’s firing on X, making a statement alluding to the Tigers’ lack of toughness under Kelly.
“Outside of my family, there’s nothing I love more than LSU. Every opportunity I’ve had in life is b/c of LSU. The next coach needs to share that same passion. Our DNA was always mean, nasty, and tough. When you played the Tigers, you felt it — it was non-negotiable.” #ForeverLSU
The next step in this process is: who should be the Bengal Tigers next head coach? SEC Network host Peter Burns has a solution to that question.
Burns suggests bringing in former LSU and Alabama head coach Nick Saban to the search committee to help find LSU’s next head coach.
“If I'm LSU, the 1st thing I do....
Call Nick Saban and offer him a king's ransom to be in charge of the LSU search.
Doesn't matter the cost.”
In theory, that’s a good idea. Saban did help bring Kalen DeBoer to Tuscaloosa, but would Saban be willing to go help an SEC rival find its next head coach? Doubtful, but it still wouldn’t hurt to make that call anyway; the worst he can say is no.
