The escalating pursuit of Lane Kiffin reached a new peak Friday night as LSU prepared a massive offer designed to pull the Ole Miss head coach to Baton Rouge.
According to Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger, the Tigers have discussed a seven-year, incentive-heavy contract worth at least $90 million, a figure that would vault Kiffin into the top tier of the highest-paid coaches in college football.
The offer, however, goes far beyond salary. LSU is also prepared to commit more than $25 million in NIL roster investment, which is a component insiders believe may matter most to Kiffin as he weighs his future. The total represents over $115 million in upfront commitments with an unprecedented number.
The development comes on the same day Kiffin and Ole Miss leadership agreed to delay any public announcement about his future until after the Egg Bowl on Nov. 29.
They reportedly outlined their own retention plan, including a salary increase from Kiffin’s current $9 million figure and guaranteed NIL backing for roster building.
The Rebels are currently 10-1 and ranked No. 6 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.
Whether Kiffin ultimately chases the LSU offer, stays in Oxford, or reenters talks with Florida, the next week will be one of the most consequential of his coaching career and could shift the balance of power in the SEC.
