LSU fans think boyfriend of Lane Kiffin’s daughter is transferring because of a fake viral post image

LSU fans had their own brief brush with coaching carousel family drama this weekend after a fake viral post claimed LSU linebacker Whit Weeks planned to transfer.

The post, which circulated widely on social media, suggested that the boyfriend of Kiffin’s daughter, Landry, was leaving to be elsewhere. The story spread quickly among SEC message boards and fan accounts, generating thousands of shares and a wave of speculative reactions across both fan bases. None of it was true.

Landry Kiffin revealed in September that she was dating Weeks, a linebacker who earned 2024 First-team All-SEC honors. Kiffin acknowledged the situation with his trademark humor when Ole Miss played LSU earlier this season, joking openly about his daughter dating a player on the opposing team.

Kiffin officially left Ole Miss to take the LSU head-coaching job on a reported seven-year deal worth more than $91 million with incentives that could push his annual pay into the sport’s highest tier. With Kiffin’s arrival now official, some fans mistook the fabricated post for a legitimate transfer hint.

Weeks has no plans to leave the Tigers and the viral chatter is juat that. For most LSU fans, the confusion was temporary amusement in a period defined by speculation and social media intrigue.
