LSU linebacker Kenzel Kelly delivered a message during his Senior Night introduction Saturday. His father, former Tigers coach Brian Kelly, was absent amid an ongoing legal battle with the university but there in spirit.
After running onto the field before LSU’s game against Western Kentucky, Kenzel held up his senior commemorative football, lifted his jersey and revealed an undershirt with “BK” handwritten across the chest.
“Long live BK,” he said toward the field crew, a brief acknowledgment to his father one day after LSU formally notified Brian Kelly he had been fired.
"Long Live BK!! Free My Boy!! Free My Boy BK!!”

The university “separated” from the veteran coach on Oct. 26 following a 5-3 start, but tensions escalated when Kelly filed a lawsuit against the LSU Board of Supervisors over unresolved buyout terms to the tune of $54 million. LSU responded Friday with a termination letter, further fracturing the relationship.
Kenzel, who transferred from Grand Valley State in 2024, has been a depth contributor and special teams player during his graduate season. Saturday was his lone Senior Night at LSU.
Meanwhile, fan unrest continued inside Tiger Stadium. Weeks after chanting “Fire Kelly,” students shifted to “We want Kiffin,” urging LSU to pursue Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin as its next hire.
