Bill Belichick loses Baylor OL transfer to Lane Kiffin, LSU in late flip image

Baylor offensive lineman Sean Thompkins made a late switch Friday, flipping his transfer commitment from North Carolina to LSU in a move that shows Lane Kiffin’s aggressive close to the NCAA transfer portal window.

Thompkins had committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels and Bill Belichick on Jan. 6, but changed course after visiting Baton Rouge on Thursday. On3's Pete Nakos first reported the flip on the final day of the two-week portal window, which closes at midnight.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound lineman becomes LSU’s fifth transfer offensive line addition and another key pickup for Kiffin, who has been especially active since taking over in Baton Rouge. The Tigers have added 27 portal players, including five-star quarterback Sam Leavitt, the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 cycle.

Thompkins appeared in 10 games for Baylor Bears last season, starting the final five at left tackle and logging 460 snaps. He signed with Baylor as a three-star prospect in the 2023 class and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining at LSU Tigers
